Summary

This is a 12-month contract role. The Analyst, Marketing Research and Support at the Calgary, AB, office location are required to support the sales and marketing team through thoughtful market research, careful data analysis, and the maintenance/administration of sales enablement platforms.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conducting market and competitor research, identifying major trends and insights pertinent to the energy sector
  • Responsible for gathering, manipulating, and interpreting a variety of oil and gas data related to production, employment, supply and demand dynamics, pricing, regulations, and others
  • Providing ad hoc analysis of industry data using Excel and other tools to provide context and answer a myriad of questions
  • Develop strategies for distributing research (which includes spreadsheets, documents, emails, presentations, fact sheets, research briefs, reports, etc)
  • Working with sales reps to create customer-tailored materials, including branded microsites via Showpad, to aid in the sales cycle
  • Helping with the maintenance and administration of sales enablement platforms, using analytics to identify the most and least relevant content, and driving revisions to existing content where needed
  • Ownership of certain daily and weekly reporting tasks

 

Knowledge & Skills

 

Well-developed communication and presentation skills, including the generation of appealing visualizations

Utilize various sources such as industry reports, databases, and market intelligence platforms to collect relevant information

Base understanding of the oilfield value chain, oil and gas macroeconomics, and geopolitics

Primary and secondary research abilities

Ability to interpret and work with large datasets

A self-starter who takes initiative and has excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills

Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to analyze, synthesize and present complex information visually or in writing

Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and ability to learn new platforms rapidly

 

Education

Post-secondary education in economics or finance (e.g. B.A., B.A. honors) or equivalent; professional designation (e.g. CA, CFA) an asset

Willing to consider someone with an engineering or data science degree with experience in economic/financial analysis

 

Experience

2-3 years of work experience in research, analysis, or a related role is required

Experience in oil and gas is an asset; familiarity with oilfield services is preferred

Python/SQL/Snowflake experience would be an asset
