- Applicants must have housing accommodations or transportation in the Calgary area, as Precision does not provide internship housing.
- By May 4, 2026, applicants must have completed at least their first year of study in a post-secondary program/Technical Institute (see job posting).
Summary
The Data Innovation AI Developer Intern will play a key role in creating an innovative AI/ML solution that incorporates the uses of large language and other foundation models. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities
- Gain hands-on experience to better understand and address the challenges in drilling operations.
- Contribute to the design of advanced ML/AI solutions that automate complex tasks and predict future outcomes.
- Harness existing data infrastructure, pipelines, and tools to gather and analyze company data, uncover trends and useful insights.
- Leverage ML/AI and prompting techniques to transform and elevate both structured and unstructured datasets from diverse sources.
- Create reports and presentations, and keep relevant technical documentation organized and up to date.
Knowledge & Skills
Shows a strong passion for optimization and the development of ML/AI solutions, particularly in addressing challenges within the oil and gas industry.
Exhibits a willingness to learn and collaborate with others, supported by a strong analytical mindset and a talent for problem-solving.
Highly motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks and subprojects effectively.
Inspires personal and professional growth in themselves and others, fostering an environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
Education
Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s Degree in; Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or Computer Science/Engineering, with a specialization in AI/ML. Previous internships, work experience, or extracurricular roles are an asset.
Experience
Experience with Python, Context engineering development experience with OpenAI based (or other) models, LangChain Agent integration required.
Experience with Autogen Studio, Vector DBs (e.g. Azure AISearch), Agentic flow (e.g. GraphRAG), GraphDB (e.g. Neo4J), advanced SQL is an asset.
ML Flow, Azure technologies (Azure ML, DevOps, Data Lake), Snowflake cloud data warehouse, and data visualization tools (Streamlit, PowerBI, Grafana) preferred.
