  • Applicants must be 18 years or older.
  • Applicants must have housing accommodations or transportation in the Calgary area, as Precision does not provide internship housing.
  • By May 4, 2026, applicants must have completed at least their first year of study in a post-secondary program/Technical Institute (see job posting). 

 

Summary   

The Drilling Performance Intern in Calgary, AB, will contribute by supporting the development of the drilling performance initiatives. This role blends data analysis, engineering principles, and digital technologies to improve operational efficiency. 

Responsibilities:

  • Gain hands-on experience to better understand and address the challenges in drilling operations
  • Contribute to the design of solutions that automate powerful predictive models and tasks
  • Harness existing data infrastructure, pipelines, and tools to gather and analyze drilling performance data, uncover trends, and help create unique identifiers while incorporating explainability
  • Collaborate within a dynamic multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
  • Communicate both technical and non-technical issues clearly, in both verbal and written English
  • Create reports and presentations, and keep relevant technical documentation organized and up to date

 Knowledge & Skills  

  • Shows a strong passion for optimization and the development of technical solutions, particularly in addressing challenges within the drilling industry  
  • Exhibits a willingness to learn and collaborate with others, supported by a strong analytical mindset and a talent for problem-solving  
  • Highly motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks and subprojects effectively  
  • Inspires personal and professional growth in themselves and others, fostering an environment that encourages creativity and innovation

Education  

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s Degree in Engineering with eligibility to work in Canada

Experience

  • Previous drilling operations or engineering internships, work experience, or extracurricular roles are an asset
  • Preferred experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau, and/or Grafana
