- Applicants must be available for a non-negotiable start date of Wednesday May 6, 2026.
- Applicants must be 18 years or older.
- Applicants must have housing accommodations or transportation in the Calgary area, as Precision does not provide internship housing.
- By May 4, 2026, applicants must have completed at least their first year of study in a post-secondary program/Technical Institute (see job posting).
Summary
The Infrastructure Services, Unified Communications Intern will complete an 8-month work term starting May 2026 and support Precision’s growing environment at a technical level. The successful candidate will represent the infrastructure team in its relationships with business unit customers and other IT groups. A focus and appreciation of the need for process, change control, and infrastructure stability. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities
- Monitoring and management of the following technologies to ensure availability, reliability, and responsiveness:
- LAN/WAN/WLAN voice and data network topologies
- Network security infrastructure, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and Azure cloud services
- 3rd party telecom services including MPLS, VPN, Internet, LEO Satellite
- Voice services including VoIP, Cellular, Teams
- Video Conferencing
- Management of documentation and providing networking technical support to internal clients.
Knowledge & Skills
Effective and enthusiastic team player who works efficiently with minimal supervision
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong technical management and support skills, specifically able to work with end users to identify and resolve business issues in an innovative manner
Strong analytical and customer service skills
Self-motivated and disciplined
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Education
Currently enrolled in, or recently completed a degree, diploma, or technical certificate program in cyber security or a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution
Experience
Experience with infrastructure networking and security systems/protocols and related technologies; LAN, WAN (BGP and OSPF), WLAN, VPN, FW, VoIP, and IDS/IPS
Experience with Network Automation is considered an asset
Experience with the Oil & Gas Industry, ITIL practices, and SOX compliance is an asset
Previous experience supporting production environments and working with end users to identify and resolve business issues innovatively is an asset
Previous experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required
