The Lead Hand, Millwright at Rostel Industries is a hands‑on technical and leadership role responsible for overseeing daily millwright activities in the manufacturing shop while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards. Acting as the Supervisor’s primary liaison and right hand, the Lead Hand coordinates work, guides crew members, and helps maintain schedules, budgets, and operational continuity in the Supervisor’s absence.

DAY IN THE LIFE:
- Lead and perform millwright work, including equipment assembly, installation, alignment, inspection, maintenance, and mechanical repairs using hand, power, and lifting tools
- Act as the day‑to‑day lead for the millwright team by assigning tasks, setting priorities, interpreting blueprints, and coordinating work with the Supervisor
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, quality standards, and pre‑job planning requirements, including hazard identification and toolbox meetings.
- Mentor and support apprentices and junior millwrights while promoting skill development, accountability, and professionalism.
- Maintain accountability for work quality, safety, and efficiency by communicating job status and resource needs, exercising sound judgment, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
- Registered Red Seal Journeyman Millwright certification with 4+ years of industrial mechanical experience
- Previous experience in a Lead Hand, senior, or supervisory‑support role is considered a strong asset
- Proven hands‑on leadership with a lead‑by‑example approach and the ability to organize work and manage competing priorities
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to safety, including solid knowledge of OHS, WHMIS, and PPE requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently while supporting and directing a team
