Summary
Reporting to the Operations Controller, located in our Calgary, AB office, this position will be responsible for managing the Fixed Asset team and the maintenance and reporting of the fixed asset sub-ledger.
Responsibilities

Ensure the accuracy of fixed sub-ledger and posted transactions, including leases, additions, transfers, and disposals

Perform fixed asset account analysis and reconciliations

Review and approve fixed asset journal entries, corrections, and accruals

Distribute period-end fixed asset deliverables for Tax, Audit, and Finance departments

Comply with and provide recommendations regarding internal controls

Ensure accounting and reporting processes comply with internal control (SOX) requirements

Assist in budget and forecast preparation

Prepare ad hoc reports and schedules as required

Manage and support the Fixed Asset Analyst team

Develop and maintain fixed asset process documentation, ensuring changes are effectively communicated and adhered to

Complete other duties and special projects as directed by the Operations Controller or VP of Finance
Knowledge & Skills
Ability to lead, supervise, and mentor a team by conducting performance evaluations and providing training
Develop and maintain internal control procedures
Develop strategic solutions for complex accounting challenges
Ability to make informed decisions based on quantitative analysis
Make choices that reflect integrity and transparency and uphold ethical standards in financial reporting and decision-making
Education
CPA designation would be an asset but not required
5 – 7 years of full-cycle accounting experience is required
Experience
Expert accounting and IFRS knowledge
Proficient in MS Office applications
Experience in SAP would be an asset
Knowledge of accounting procedures, financial reporting, and information systems
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
Proven ability to perform under tight timelines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Organized with an ability to balance multiple projects in the face of competing priorities
Strong knowledge of accounting procedures and practices with a focus on fixed asset procedures and practices
Strong analytical analysis background
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong organization skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
Skilled in collecting and analyzing complex data
Knowledge of fixed asset system in SAP
