The following restrictions apply to all internship candidates:
- Applicants must be available for a non-negotiable start date of Monday, May 5, 2025, if located in Nisku or Wednesday, May 7, 2025, if located in Calgary. Only one vacancy is available for this Internship.
- Applicants must be 18 years or older.
- Applicants must have housing accommodations or transportation in the Calgary or Nisku area, as Precision does not provide internship housing.
- By May 5, 2025, applicants must have completed at least their first year of study in a post-secondary program/Technical Institute (see job posting).
Summary
The Mechanical Engineering Intern will work a summer or Co-Op work term with Precision Drilling in both the office and field/shop environments. The intern will work closely with the Engineering team, made up of professional engineers, technologists and operations personnel to develop a practical understanding of drilling rigs and drilling operations.
Responsibilities
- Working closely with the engineering team to support ongoing projects throughout Canada
- Participate as a full member of the Operations Engineering team, with field/shop exposure as required by projects
- Apply knowledge of technical aspects for providing support to drilling rigs operating in the field and/or new equipment designs
- Experience with typical 2D & 3D software design packages, as well as the typical Microsoft Office suite of products.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Great communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work well within a multi-disciplined team
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Valid driver’s license with good driving record
Education
Enrolled in an Engineering program with a focus on Mechanical Engineering
Experience
Drafting/Design experience with AutoCAD and Inventor (or equivalent 2D and 3D software) is an asset
Experience with oil drilling rig equipment would be an asset but not a requirement
Previous experience working in a hands-on and labor-intensive environment (farming, automotive, etc.) is an
asset but not a requirement
