Rostel Industries, a division of Precision Drilling Canada Limited Partnership has an opening for a Third- or Fourth-Year Apprentice Millwright, eager to roll up their sleeves and contribute to a lively work environment. This position will work out of Precisions Manufacturing Shop in Southeast Calgary.

Summary

At Rostel, the Apprentice Millwright will assist and learn alongside the Journeymen Millwrights in installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting oilfield rig machinery and mechanical equipment. They will work on advanced components and projects to further improve their knowledge and skill set.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assembly of newly fabricated oilfield equipment
  • Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances
  • Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary oilfield and mechanical equipment for repair according to layout plans using hand and power tools
  • Align and test equipment using Levelling procedures, Laser Shaft, and Bore alignments
  • Perform Pipe Strain Corrections 
  • Perform installations by utilizing Grouting, Levelling, and Anchoring techniques
  • Perform Shaft Alignments using Rim and Face Shaft techniques
  • Identify, apply, and maintain Bearing Components in conjunction with proper Lubrication Systems
  • Apply a strong understanding of Power Transmission System Calculations, Dial Alignments, and the application of Power Transmission Components
  • Perform basic service and repairs on Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems
  • Work proficiently with Power Tools, Hand Tools, and Fasteners
  • Operate, Maintain, service, and install Pumps, Mechanical Seals, and Compression Packing
  • Read and follow along with basic layouts, drawings, and measurements in accordance with project requirements
  • Operate manual and automated machining tools when required
  • Perform Welding techniques to assist with the maintenance and quality assurance of the oilfield equipment
  • Perform proper lifting, rigging, and hoisting techniques as outlined by industry safety standards
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Assist with standard shop housekeeping and upkeep on an ad hoc basis

Experience with hand and power tools

Have a solid understanding of OHS regulations, WHMIS, and the importance of PPE on the worksite

 

Education

A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required

Completed or in the process of completing the third or fourth period of vocational training from a post-secondary institution

 

Experience

Completion or in progress of completing the minimum 1560 on-the-job training hours

3+ years of experience working in a shop or manufacturing environment is preferred

Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings is required

Experience operating machining equipment, hand tools, and power tools

Experience with Oxy-Fuel equipment, Arc-Welding equipment, and the identification and application of Weld Symbols and Metallurgy
