Summary
The Purchaser will report to the Purchasing & Materials Supervisor. This role is responsible for the procurement and receiving of materials. They must have strong communication and negotiation skills, be detail orientated and highly organized.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate the purchase of goods and services based on specific customer-defined requirements
- Source vendors and negotiate prices of goods
- Review vendor pricing and recommend potential sources of cost reduction
- Work with financial systems, in particular, the purchasing modules
- Work with internal and external customers and ensure timely delivery of goods
- Ensure alignment within company purchasing policies and procedures
- Work with the inventory group to forecast demands, maintain stock levels and prevent stock-outs
- Place purchase orders upon regular review of customer and site requirements
- Communicate with vendors to provide pricing for upgrades and options
- Review and process claims against suppliers
- Maintain good working relationships with Rostel’s primary supplier base while developing relationships with other suppliers
- Use the engineering bill of material requisitions for production orders
- Match incoming goods or services as per the requirements of their purchase orders

Education
A degree or diploma in a related discipline is considered an asset.
Experience
Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in procurement
Experience with SAP as an asset
