Summary

The Purchaser will report to the Purchasing & Materials Supervisor. This role is responsible for the procurement and receiving of materials. They must have strong communication and negotiation skills, be detail orientated and highly organized.

 

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate the purchase of goods and services based on specific customer-defined requirements
  • Source vendors and negotiate prices of goods
  • Review vendor pricing and recommend potential sources of cost reduction
  • Work with financial systems, in particular, the purchasing modules
  • Work with internal and external customers and ensure timely delivery of goods
  • Ensure alignment within company purchasing policies and procedures
  • Work with the inventory group to forecast demands, maintain stock levels and prevent stock-outs
  • Place purchase orders upon regular review of customer and site requirements
  • Communicate with vendors to provide pricing for upgrades and options
  • Review and process claims against suppliers
  • Maintain good working relationships with Rostel’s primary supplier base while developing relationships with other suppliers
  • Use the engineering bill of material requisitions for production orders
  • Match incoming goods or services as per the requirements of their purchase orders

Education

A degree or diploma in a related discipline is considered an asset.

 

Experience

Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in procurement

Experience with SAP as an asset
