Summary

The Senior Project Engineer will leverage their extensive engineering background, leadership experience, and available resources to drive the development and implementation of innovative equipment, technologies, and processes. In this role, you will manage all phases of Mechanical Engineering projects—from initial concept through commissioning—to deliver solutions that meet operational objectives and comply with relevant standards.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate complex engineering projects, create detailed plans, define requirements, set schedules, and ensure technical activities are completed on time and within budget
  • Oversee mid-to-large-scale projects, aligning deliverables with department and organizational goals
  • Review and refine existing equipment, practices, and processes; recommend upgrades for improved safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
  • Assess novel technologies to determine feasibility, performance, and potential ROI
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations, Procurement, Marketing, HSE, EAM) to ensure timely project delivery, high-quality outcomes, and stakeholder satisfaction
  • Provide mentorship to project teams, offering guidance on technical challenges and professional growth
  • Utilize operational data to identify areas for process improvement, reduce turnaround times, and enhance equipment reliability
  • Develop and implement solutions based on quantitative analysis and best practices
  • Translate conceptual ideas into actionable designs, creating comprehensive packages for installation, adoption, or fabrication
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable local, national, and international legislation and standards
  • Maintain thorough documentation and reporting to meet regulatory and corporate requirements
  • Contribute to project logistics, budgeting, and coordination of deliverables as needed
  • Undertake other duties and special projects to support broader business objectives

 

Knowledge & Skills

Working knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and legislation

Ability to effectively collaborate with other departments

Highly motivated, self-directed individual capable of balancing priorities and communicating with stakeholders

High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite

Ability to travel within North America as projects require (~10%)

Valid Class 5 driver’s license and available to attend out-of-office meetings

Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow in a collaborative work environment

Education

B. Sc.in Mechanical Engineering

Registered as a P.Eng. with APEGA

 

Experience

10+ years of practical experience with the design, fabrication, and commissioning of equipment and structural components in the drilling, mining, and/or construction industries

Expert level of proficiency with Autodesk suite of CAD products (Inventor, Vault, AutoCAD)

Expert level of proficiency with Mechanical analysis software (Inventor FEA, ANSYS, and SAFI)
