Summary

The SAP Solution Architect, reporting to the Manager, Application Development & Technical Systems, is focused on bridging the gap between business problems and technology solutions. They will analyze, design, and participate in the implementation of solutions requiring in-depth knowledge of SAP technology and business processes.

 

The Architect will collaborate with Business System Managers, Functional Analysts, Developers, IT Infrastructure Team, and Business partners to understand challenges and design solutions. They will translate business requirements into solution designs that will become the blueprint for new business capabilities and replace inefficient solutions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating business and technology challenges, documenting options, and recommending solutions
  • Working with internal and external resources to describe the structure, characteristics, behaviour, and other aspects of solutions to project stakeholders.
  • Provide specifications for which the solution is defined, managed, and delivered
  • Provide oversight of technical solution design and support for implementation teams
  • Defining features, phases, and technical solution requirements
  • Collaborate with Project/IT Managers to provision estimates and develop implementation plans for technologies and solutions
  • Evaluate and document technology architecture design principles, implementation options, benefits, risks, and costs
  • Perform or oversee proofs of concepts to validate proposed solution designs
  • Knowledge transfer of best practices and skill development for technical team members
  • Coordinate architecture review board meetings, maintain related artifacts, and facilitate closure of decisions
  • Working with cross-functional teams, document the SAP technical roadmap that provides a foundation for Business Systems teams to deliver new and enhanced business capabilities
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining SAP architecture design standards and supporting documentation
  • Provide solutions and architecture support/collaboration/guidance to stakeholders, including Business Managers, Users, Internal IT departments, 3rd party software providers, and consulting staff
  • Guide the functional and development teams during the systems development life cycle to support the creation of deliverables that conform to Precision’s architectural design standards and governance
  • Recommend integration opportunities, process improvements, and system solutions to support and improve the delivery of Precision’s business objectives
  • Stay abreast of SAP and industry architecture frameworks, methodologies, tools, and trends, and recommend if and how these frameworks and methodologies could be applied at Precision
  • This position has no direct reports or financial approval authority.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree combined with 10+ years of solution architecture and SAP technical, development, or functional implementation experience

 

Experience

7+ years’ experience with major business process design or process improvement from a technology perspective

Knowledge and experience with emerging SAP solutions, their application, and value proposition within a global organization

Creating solutions for multiple SAP functional areas and processes, such as Supply Chain and Asset Management

Experience initiating and leading collaboration across teams in both business and IT

Preference is given to candidates with experience in Business Technology Platforms, analytical and reporting tools, and S/4 HANA

Broad knowledge and understanding across multiple Information Technology disciplines, such as knowledge or certification in:

  • SAP Activate
  • TOGAF
  • ITIL
  • PMP
