The Team Lead, Accounts Payable reports to the Manager, Accounts Payable and is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of invoices, while leading a team of AP Analysts in maintaining high operational standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding financial integrity and compliance across all Accounts Payable activities.

DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Lead, mentor, and support the AP Analysts, including training, workload coordination, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee invoice processing for Canadian and U.S. entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex AP issues, including vendor disputes and aged payables, ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Collaborate with procurement and receiving teams to resolve purchase order and receipt discrepancies, and maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Analyze AP metrics, identify process inefficiencies, and recommend or support automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: 

  • Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Proven organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience, with solid knowledge of accounts payable processes, accounting procedures, and related tax rules (Canada and U.S.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and experienced with SAP S/4, VIM, and related business systems; Ariba experience an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, vendors, and leadership.
