Summary
The Division Purchaser is accountable for fulfilling demand requirements while maintaining an open channel of communication with operating centers and customers concerning product specifications, order processing, pricing, cost savings, credits, back-orders, and other issues. Responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
- Coordinating day-to-day drilling operations equipment and consumable requirements
- Monitoring Automated Purchasing Request system on a daily basis
- Placing purchase orders upon regular review of customer and site requirements in a timely manner
- Maintain good communication and a close working relationship with Precision Drilling supply stores
- Maintain open communication with drilling operations management and field staff
- Coordinating with the Warehouse Manager regarding order accuracy and shipments
- Negotiating the purchase of goods and services based on specific customer-defined requirements
- Sourcing of vendors and price negotiations within a multitude of geographies
- Working with financial systems, in particular the purchasing modules
- Maintaining up-to-date electronic files by monitoring delivery lead times and backorder reports
- Assisting in day-to-day warehouse operations when required
- Assist in physical inventory count procedure
- Working within company purchasing policies and procedures
- Work to achieve goals and objectives set by division management
- Developing opportunities for integration of services using other Precision companies wherever possible
- Partaking in monthly after-hours on-call rotation
- Various other duties as required
Knowledge & Skills
Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well with others while under minimal supervision
Education
Degree or diploma in a related discipline is considered an asset
Experience
3 – 5 years of oilfield equipment experience
Experience in SAP is considered an asset
Previous purchasing experience is an asset
