Field Superintendent

The Field Superintendent oversees and manages drilling operations and Rig Managers.

Responsibilities include:

 

• Coordinating and overseeing land-based drilling operations, in accordance with company, operator, and regulatory bodies' policies and procedures;
• Setting the standard of safety excellence by working with the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) department to ensure Grey Wolf is a leader in safety;
• Working with the operator's representatives in areas of well planning, operations, personnel, etc

 • Making regular visits to rig sites to evaluate and provide proactive feedback to the Rig Manager;

• Making field trips to monitor operations and study specific problems and where appropriate, take corrective action;
• Overseeing well-site staff to evaluate performance and training requirements, as well as select and develop key personnel for future advancement;
• Managing capital and operating expenditures, ensuring the company's financial performance meets agreed budget and profitability targets. Meet on a monthly basis to review financial performance with Rig Managers;
• Managing operations to ensure equipment is maintained to current company and host location standards;
• Assisting with the administration of current contracts in the areas of reimbursable charges, labor increases, and operational summaries to effect timely invoicing in these areas;
• Assisting with evaluation and preparation of future bids;
• Securing and developing a skilled team of top Rig Managers and identify potential candidates for promotion to ensure orderly growth and progression;
• Monitoring and reviewing drilling practices and recommending techniques and procedures that minimize risk and maximize profitability;
• Training, developing and mentoring other Field Superintendents;
• Ensure billing is accurate and to contract;
• Adherence to corporate policies for purchase orders, work orders and other financial SOX duties;

 

Experience/Competence:

  • Min 10 years relevant experience in land drilling field with a minimum 4 years on a supervisory role at the rig site. Project management capability preferred.
  • Demonstrate excellent safety leadership.
  • Understand need to plan ahead and utilize proactive activities.
  • Commercially driven.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels assist in effective management of personnel and operations.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Ability to work in a multi-faceted continually changing organization.
  • Experience working in the Middle East is preferred.
