Director, Field Training & Talent Development - Houston, TX
The position of Director, Field Training & Development shall be responsible for the oversight of the North American regulatory and technical training and development programs for our field-based staff. The Director will assume a leadership role in developing and implementing short- and long-term competencies necessary to achieve business objectives. The Director is accountable for the program's strategic direction and execution, including compliance with training matrices, monitoring and analysis of KPIs/Dashboards/Metrics, data tracking and trending, and providing comprehensive training and development support when necessary.
The Director will manage all aspects of the design, preparation, delivery, and evaluation of field-based training and development initiatives. The Director will also have additional duties, which include:
- Identify the Company's training needs for various positions, including operational, first-line supervisory, technical, management development, and interpersonal skills and communications training.
- Build a training program that complies with legal regulations and conforms to our HSE MS. They will develop, provide, and monitor training programs for compliance.
- Manage the training/learning centers and personnel for effectiveness, including classroom trainers and field-based coaches.
- Develop new strategies, programs, standards, and curriculums as necessary.
- Analyze skill gaps and identify missing competencies. They will apply appropriate adult learning techniques for the most effective learning retention and return on investment.
- Ensure current programs and curricula are regulatory and industry compliant.
- Create and implement field development programs that provide employees with a clear roadmap for learning and advancement.
- Manage effective and efficient execution of field-based employee development programs, including behavioral outcome-based competencies, management and leadership skills, communication, and time management skills.
- Create alignment with stakeholder groups to identify and create learning opportunities.
- Identify and implement unique and innovative methodologies focused on increased learner retention and engagement.
- Track and report program evaluations, compliance, effectiveness, and current and future competency skill gaps.
- Develop and deliver programs such as new employee orientation and performance management training.
- Work in a results-oriented manner, delivering quality work on time with accuracy.
- Communicate regularly with employees and managers on the status of queries, issues, or concerns, and follow up through closure.
- Facilitate Executive and Manager level workshops, meetings, and training.
- Identify and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the area of training and development.
5 years of experience managing a training function at a company of comparable size.
A track record of proven and successful leadership in overseeing a training and development department.
Ability to demonstrate experience in content creation, training process management, and successful development of ongoing training and development programs.
