Dropped Objects Prevention Standard Specialist

A Drops Specialist's role involves conducting inspections to identify and mitigate hazards from falling objects, standard compliance, and coaching / training employees on dropped object prevention, especially in high-risk environments. Key responsibilities include performing risk assessments, executing detailed inspections of equipment and structures, training and coaching and documenting findings to create action plans for improvement. This specialist also investigates incidents, provides training to raise workforce awareness, and supports the overall DROPS (Dropped Objects Prevention Standard) program to ensure a safer work environment. 

DAY IN THE LIFE:

• Perform routine inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify and mitigate dropped-object hazards on structures and equipment at height.
• Verify installation integrity, securing methods, and secondary retention systems while maintaining detailed documentation, reports, and equipment/defect registers.
• Support and ensure compliance with the DROPS program through administrative oversight, audits, standards alignment, and process-improvement actions.
• Provide technical guidance, subject-matter expertise, and collaboration with rig teams, field personnel, and management.
• Deliver and/or facilitate workforce training to enhance awareness, prevention practices, and continuous safety improvement.
• Demonstrate strong communication, analytical, organizational, and leadership skills while managing multiple priorities and promoting safe work practices.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

• Advanced understanding of the HSEMS and how to apply it to equipment.
• Minimum 5-10 years of direct experience working on drilling rig equipment
• Experience in interpreting and complying with health, safety, and environmental regulations and implementing programs/procedures for sustained compliance.
• Knowledge of current State, Federal, and local laws, rules, and regulations related to oil and gas operations
