Applicants must be available for a non-negotiable start date of Monday May 19, 2025

Applicants must have housing accommodations or transportation in the Houston area, as Precision does not provide internship housing.

By May 5, 2025, applicants must have completed at least their second year of study in a post-secondary program/Technical Institute (see job posting).
Summary
The Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern will work a 4 or 8 month term with Precision Drilling, including shop and office work. Some work may also be performed at the Houston Technical Support Center (HTSC) at Vickery Drive, in Houston, TX. The role will also be shared with Operations Engineering in the USA.
Responsibilities
Shop term: estimated working 8-hour days, 5 days per week:
You will assist equipment technicians in their daily activities of maintenance of drilling equipment
Office term: working 7.5-hour days, 5 days per week:
You will be a member of an engineering team working with professional engineers, technologists and operations personnel
You will be exposed to technical aspects of providing support to drilling rigs operating in the field and/or new equipment designs
You will have exposure to typical two-dimensional and three-dimensional design software as well as typical word processing software
Knowledge & Skills
Assist in Management of Change projects (Engineering Documents, Drafting).
Previous experience working in a hands-on and labor intensive environment (farming, automotive, etc.) is an asset, but not a requirement.
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
Various other duties and special projects as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
Education
Currently enrolled in an Engineering program, with a focus on Mechanical Engineering;
Experience
Minimum 1-2 years of related work experience with QA/QC checks and understanding of management of change systems. Experience can be acquired through lectures and labs
Drafting/Design experience with AutoCAD and Inventor (or equivalent 2D and 3D software) is an asset
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience with oil drilling rig equipment would be an asset but not a requirement
Previous oilfield working experience is an asset but not a requirement
