The Rig Up Hand plays a key role in supporting rig-up activities for new build and upgraded drilling rigs by assisting with equipment installation, site preparation, and project execution. This hands-on role helps ensure safe, efficient rig mobilization through equipment operation, mechanical readiness checks, crew leadership, and a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.

DAY IN THE LIFE:
- Support rig-up projects by assisting with the handling, movement, installation, and startup readiness of drilling rig equipment, including mud pumps, top drives, and engines
- Lead and mentor small crews, ensuring safety meetings, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and work activities are completed safely and effectively
- Operate forklifts, loaders, man lifts, and other shop equipment to support project execution and material movement
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and promote Precision Drilling’s safety culture through positive leadership and safe work practices
- Capable of working independently without supervision in a fast-paced environment, including working at heights, overtime, and participation in an on-call rotation as required
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
- 2+ years of experience in drilling rigs, field operations, construction, or related industry
- Experience operating forklifts, loaders, and man lifts, with all required equipment and safety training current
- Strong knowledge of drilling rig equipment and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures for mechanical and electrical systems
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Positive attitude with strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
