Technical Trainer - Houston, TX

The Technical Trainer is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of Precision’s performance-based hands-on technical training that ensures rig crew have the competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities) to operate rig equipment safely and effectively. The Technical Trainer coordinates and avails training, services, and documentation for all technical courses including, but not limited to, Amphion controls, electrical/mechanical equipment, IADC Well Control (WellSharp®), and RigPass®. The Technical Trainer also works as a team member of the Field Training & Development Department to evaluate, report, and improve training. Responsibilities include:

 

  • Develop and deliver technical training for field-based oil and gas employees.

  • Oversee multiple, complex development projects.

  • Oversee technical and simulator classes in coordination with other in-house training.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal customers to make an impact in operations.

  • Support technical learning and competency assessments using Precision and third-party equipment.

  • Maintain relationships with third-party training providers to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of licensed or co-taught technical skills training.

  • Deliver classroom and hands-on rig-based training as required.

  • Manage evaluation of third-party vendor performance.

  • Schedule and coordinate required in house and external training.

  • Maintain files on on-going training development projects.

  • Provide budget inputs for expected incurred administrative and project costs.

  • Conduct correspondence as necessary to conduct department business.

  • Assist other department personnel on on-going projects, events, and course deliveries.

  • Model and maintain Precision Key Beliefs, safety proposals, and other assigned duties.

 

Education & Experience

Possess relevant technical qualifications and/or certifications

Driller experience using automated drilling systems such as NOVOS/Amphion preferred

Possess 5-10 years of field experience in the oil and industry

Bachelor’s Degree in Training, OD, or equivalent professional experience preferably in offshore/land oil & gas environment

Experienced in curriculum development and training management

Experienced in budget management

Experienced in project management
