Summary

The Boiler Technician is required to inspect, test, measure, repair, replace, order, adjust and perform full or partial repairs and maintenance to Precision’s Boiler fleet.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, repair test, and adjust of various systems, including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical components.
  • Ensure that all tools and test equipment are fully serviceable prior to start of repair work and are fully accounted for after each repair
  • Commission, maintain and troubleshoot boilers and auxiliary equipment
  • Investigate equipment and component failures to determine if there are procedural contributions to those failures
  • Create work orders for work to be performed on boilers re-certifications and other boiler related projects
  • Present job hours/cost estimates and parts replacement to foreman/shop manager for approval
  • Document inspections, test results, repair work done and parts replaced for proper billing and record upkeep
  • Keep work area and shop neat and clean, and free from any work obstructions or tripping hazards
  • Ensure Permits are up to date with boilers working in other provinces
  • Inventory support, sending parts to rigs, ordering parts etc.
  • Transfer equipment as required in SAP as equipment is deployed and received.
  • Follow and promote Safe work requirements

 

Knowledge & Skills

Excellent diagnosing and troubleshooting knowledge of boilers

Must have a valid drivers license

Must be able to work efficiently with/without constant supervision

Effective analytical skills and the ability to identify the problem quickly

Ability to read and understand, reference manuals, electric schematics, and diagrams.

Excellent verbal, reading and writing communication skills.

Must understand and always be conscious of safety practices in any procedure

Ability to learn new technology and repair and service procedures and specifications

Extremely high attention to detail, and ability to work calmly and patiently towards a solution

Must be willing to learn

Computer skills

 

Education

Must have a Special Oilwell Boiler ticket (or higher)

 

 

Experience

Must have minimum 5 years’ experience repairing and maintaining Boiler equipment.
