Summary
The Field Training & Development Training Coach is responsible for coaching, mentoring, training, and upskilling new and existing employees on competencies for identifying hazards, mitigating at-risk behaviors, and performing the job as a rig crew member safely, efficiently, and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Participate in CTA (Critical Task Analysis) reviews on rig sites and use the information collected to observe crews completing those tasks as per the CTA outline
- Educate and train crews on the Step back process
- Educate and train rig crews on the expectations regarding Critical Operating Procedures
- Attend crew handover meetings to observe the communication between crews and ensure the time is utilized to its full potential
- Complete and use daily hazard and risk observations to improve crew awareness of and ability to mitigate risk
- Identify and educate crews on opportunities to improve efficiencies during tasks and while transitioning between tasks
- Review safety meetings and materials from these meetings to help crews realize their value
- Help crews access and use safety information to benefit their day-to-day operations
- Complete in-field competency assessments and enhance competencies needing development
- Support the division in achieving field training and development objectives
- Deliver FT&D-designed job-specific training to field personnel
- Coordinate and conduct compliance training as defined
- Support FT&D administrative functions, systems, and processes
- Assist in training-related projects, development, and analysis work
Knowledge & Skills
Computer skills (Fluency in Word, Excel, Outlook, Success Factors, & PowerPoint)
Excellent communication skills
Organizational skills and the ability to plan ahead and manage your time
Functional knowledge of company standards and practices
Motivation to develop skills aligned to HSE practices, procedures, and regulations
Possess a working knowledge of drilling equipment and processes
Education
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent (secondary education preferred)
Certification in Well Control (1st or 2nd Line), H2S Alive, First Aid, Fall Protection and Rig Rescue, and Confined Space Entry and Rescue. Certification in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods is a plus
Experience
Possess 3-5 years of field experience in the oil and industry
Operational experience is an asset, preferably worked as a Driller or higher
Experience delivering training and coaching
A proven excellent safety record
Hold a valid driver’s license and the ability to produce a clean driver’s abstract
