Precision Drilling is currently paying our Derrickhands $47.30 per hour + a $2000 sign-on bonus to Derrickhands with 2+ years of drilling rig experience.

ABOUT THE JOB  

The Derrickhand is responsible for safely watching and maintaining proper drilling fluid characteristics, the rate of fluid circulation, mud handling equipment, and the preventative maintenance program. Responsibilities of the Derrickhand also include:  

  • Watching and maintaining proper drilling fluid characteristics, the rate of fluid circulation
  • Work at heights, where applicable
  • Assist in handling the tubulars in the Derrick
  • Maintain multiple styles of drilling fluid
  • Read and follow mud reports, mix chemicals as per directions
  • Take mud samples, analyze samples, and take any corrective steps and log data in toursheets
  • Required to maintain mixing pumps, mud pumps, shale shakers
  • Operate and maintain centrifuges, injection tanks, and tank farms
  • Identify possible problems, perform repairs, and assist other crew members when applicable
  • Assist with onboarding and training of other crew members
  • Work racking board in mast during tripping operations and mast connections
  • Work alongside another Derrickhand on the larger rigs
  • Additional duties may be required at the discretion of the Driller
  • Follow all policies, understand Key Beliefs, Target Zero Rules, and Core Values
  • Actively participate in the Observation program, correcting at-risk work
  • Actively aware of all safety hazards, ensuring the correct safety precautions are taken
  • Wear appropriate PPE wherever applicable

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS  

  • Previous Derrickhand experience with over three years of drilling rig experience
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • A valid driver's license as well as transportation to and from rig site
  • Must be self-motivated and possess a strong work ethic
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to follow instructions and take direction
  • Able to lift and carry up to 75lbs throughout a shift of work

 

STARTING WAGE: $47.30 per hour + Waived waiting period for single/family extended health and dental benefits
