Summary
The Maintenance Engineer will participate in all maintenance activities associated with a Drilling Rig involving mechanical components, structural overhead, machinery, and pressure-related equipment using applied knowledge of regulatory requirements and engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all Equipment and Maintenance Practices activities, including certifications and documentation
- Work with a team of Professional Engineers, Technologists, Equipment Managers, and Operations personnel to complete Certification work in both Shop/Field environment
- Schedule maintenance planning using Precision’s Equipment Maintenance Practices in line with the company’s (APEGA) PPMP.
- Provide technical support to field operations on equipment specifications and periodic troubleshooting
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g. Shop Floor, Purchasing, IT, HSE, Marketing, etc.) to ensure project success and that equipment is safe, efficient, and commissioned before use
- Evaluate various new products to determine their efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Develop, review, evaluate, and recommend upgrades to existing equipment and practices
- Managing the collection and storage of rig-specific technical information
- Conduct final inspections with a team approach to commissioning oversight and final sign-offs
- Responsible for maintenance audits, communication, training, and participation in industry committees
- Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation
- Participate in field visits and inspections is a requirement
- Various other duties and special projects as required
Knowledge & Skills
Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Inventor, and the Microsoft Office suite of products
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Highly motivated and a self-starter who is capable of multi-tasking and able to work with minimal supervision
Ability to create and review technical documentation, including bulletins, project plans, and schedules
Class 5 Drivers License with a clean record and the ability to travel
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
Education
Graduate engineer from an APEGA-accredited educational institution specializing in mechanical engineering
Must be registered at the time of employment as a Professional member of APEGA
Experience
4+ years of related experience is required
Experience with three-dimensional design software would be considered an asset
Field experience working on oil and gas drilling and/or servicing equipment would be considered an asset
