Rotational Rig Equipment Technician - Odessa/Midland

The Rig Equipment Technician is responsible for troubleshooting oilfield equipment. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: 

  • Promoting a Safe and Respectful Work Environment: Proactively promotes and maintains a healthy respect for open and transparent dialogue between all levels of personnel

  • Carry out mechanical maintenance, and repair in a safe and prudent manner

  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty mechanical equipment and tools.

  • Assist in maintaining and repairing equipment in other departments when needed.

  • Identify and respond to abnormal operating conditions and patterns of equipment.

  • Perform CAT III & IV equipment inspection per Precision Drilling’s standards and document findings/results for proper traceability.

  • Ensure that requirements concerning regulatory bodies are met in all equipment repair and installation cases.

  • Comply with the Permit to Work and Isolation System.

  • Maintain service reports and advise the supervisor on the condition of equipment and spare parts requirements.

  • Assist in implementing outstanding recommendations from equipment audits as issued by Clients, Regulatory Authorities, or rig management.

  • Assist in ensuring that all third-party equipment is fit for purpose.

  • Inform the supervisor and other department heads of any technical problems or limitations that may affect the safe operation of the rig.

  • Ensure that service, maintenance, and other operational reports are accurate and complete.

  • Report all incidents, potential hazards, or abnormal situations to the supervisor.

  • Maintain a safe and organized work area throughout all tasks and on completion of tasks.

  • Apply the Safe Operations Verification card to all jobs and ensure subordinate personnel is aware of their safety role and yours.

  • Recognize at-risk behavior or conditions during tasks and call “Time out for safety” when unsure or when the job does not go as planned.

 

Education & Requirements

 

High School Diploma or proof of completion of formal education or relevant craft certificate.

 

Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, and Background Check.

Must hold a valid driver’s license.

 

Skills & Competencies

 

Experience diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling drilling rig equipment 

Knowledge of diagnosing and troubleshooting hydraulic systems

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Computer literacy.

Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, especially: Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Understanding of SAP as it relates to position is a plus.

 

Reading equipment schematics with an excellent understanding of symbols is a plus.
