Senior Purchaser - Warehouse & Procurement

The Senior Purchaser, Warehouse & Procurement position  is accountable for inventory management, buyouts, and the efficient and safe operation of our WTX warehouse.   The employee will work with operations to adjust inventory levels with rig activity as well as working with local vendors. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Procure, receive, and review incoming orders for accuracy of materials, pricing, value and quality
  • Creation of stock picking tickets
  • Procure, receive, handle, ship, and monitor quality on all buy-out and inventory materials
  • Ensuring all orders are processed and completed on a timely basis; all delivery dates tracked and updated
  • Notifying freight companies of upcoming shipment requirements
  • Continuously monitor supply store inventory levels and investment values
  • Documenting inventory usage history and turnover ratios
  • Assist with picking stock orders when required
  • Assist in warehouse layout and space requirements in order to prevent loss or damage, to achieve full warehouse optimization, and continuously drive improvements
  • Coordinating with Finance Department regarding order and/or vendor issues
  • Coordinating with warehouse personnel regarding order accuracy and shipping
  • Emphasizing product/service features and benefits, quote prices, discuss credit terms and prepare sales order forms and/or reports
  • Investigate and troubleshoot customer service issues
  • Assisting in day-to-day warehouse operations when required
  • Assist physical inventory count procedure
  • Lead and participate in cross-function teams, addressing procurement challenges and opportunities
  • Collaborate consistently with Operations to determine the rig fleet’s needs
  • Be available after hours to assist rigs with critical parts
  • Various other duties as required
  • Optimal vendors used by evaluating cost and quality
  • Utilizing in-house inventory
  • Material Master utilized when possible
  • Free text procurement kept to a minimum
  • Cycle count accuracy
  • Policing vendor performance, finding new sources of supply, and managing cost

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of oilfield consumable requirements (drilling, well servicing, snubbing, manufacturing, vendors)
  • Medium/Strong computer skills
  • Able to develop & maintain excellent customer & vendor relationships
  • A positive attitude towards customers and co-workers
  • Strong time management, attention to d,etail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be committed to safety and the promotion of a safe work environment
  • Must be able to work as part of a dynamic team

 

Education

  • Degree or diploma in a related discipline considered an asset

 

Experience

  • Experience with ERP systems – SAP an asset
  • Minimum 5 years in oilfield product procurement
  • Upstream oilfield supply experience is considered an asset
  • Drilling rig product knowledge an asset
