The Apprentice, Rig Equipment supports the maintenance, inspection, repair, and troubleshooting of critical drilling equipment in both shop and field environments. This role develops handson mechanical skills while ensuring safe operations, accurate reporting, and reliable equipment performance under the guidance of experienced technicians.

DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Perform maintenance, inspection, repair, and installation of drilling equipment (mud pumps, draw works, rotary tables, blocks, and related systems) in shop and field environments
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, conduct performance testing, and support equipment reliability and uptime
  • Follow all safety procedures, permit systems, and Safe Operations Verification practices, identifying hazards and stopping work when required
  • Maintain accurate service reports, document equipment condition, and communicate findings to supervisors
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and assist across departments while meeting operational demands and travel requirements

 

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational, technical, or post secondary engineering education is an asset
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • Demonstrated experience with mechanical maintenance and repairs
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities with mechanical aptitude
  • Effective communication and basic computer skills, with the ability to work under supervision in a team environment
